Hi there! After sharing the majority of my football analysis on Twitter/X over the last 5 years, I’m going to try something different on Substack.

In the last year or so, I’ve seen less public engagement on my posts than ever. At the same time, I’ve been approached more frequently in private by sharp football minds, including many who make their living in and around football. I believe there is real interest in the things I’m working on/thinking about, but X is no longer the best platform for me to catalog my projects and consistently reach those who might publicly engage with my work.

I’ll continue posting fleeting thoughts and snippets of my work on both X and Bluesky, but it might be attached to something meatier (and still free) here at statbutler.com.

While I’m going to do a little more longer form writing and research here, I’ll to try to keep things as informal as I have on social media. My passion is creating unique data visualizations and curated datasets, so that will be the driver of what I publish on this site. As far as the topics I’ll cover, expect to see some mixture of the following:

• Team building & salary cap trends

• Analytics

• Cleveland Browns

• Revisiting or expanding on prior works

• Code demos/new custom datasets

• Frivolities
